Usagi Tsukino is an average student and a crybaby who usually gets low grades on her tests. Her ordinary life is completely changed when she saves a cat with a crescent moon on its forehead. The cat, named Luna, later reveals that their meeting was not an accident. Usagi's fate is to become Sailor Moon, one of the guardians of the planets, who has the power to protect them. Usagi is given a special brooch that allows her to transform whenever she wants and must use her newfound power to protect against the evil creatures sent by Queen Beryl from the dark kingdom.
